Home Tour: 12th Avenue Project, A Fresh Take on Rosemont Charm

Located in Montreal’s Rosemont neighbourhood, the 12th Avenue project celebrates the character of a classic Montreal home while introducing a contemporary, warm and timeless aesthetic. Designed by Atelier Catherine Catherine, the kitchen combines soft, natural materials with thoughtful details that complement the home’s existing character.

For this project, Bofronts created the fronts for a portion of the kitchen in white oak with a satin finish, featuring our Grip design. The natural grain of the wood brings warmth and texture to the space while maintaining a clean and refined look. The fronts blend seamlessly with the surrounding materials, creating a kitchen that feels both sophisticated and welcoming.

One of the key features of the project is the custom niche created by Bofronts. Integrated directly into the kitchen, the niche provides a dedicated space to hide small appliances such as the coffee machine, mixer and toaster while keeping them easily accessible. It is a practical solution that helps maintain clean, uncluttered countertops without sacrificing functionality.

The selection of materials also plays an important role in the overall design. Daltile backsplash tiles and Stonetile floor tiles add subtle visual interest, while the granite countertop from Progranit introduces a natural, mineral texture that contrasts beautifully with the warmth of the white oak. The Baril plumbing fixtures, purchased from Espace Plomberium, complete the space with a simple and refined touch.

Lighting was carefully considered to enhance the atmosphere of the kitchen. The tube ceiling fixture from Union Lighting & Decor, ceiling spotlights purchased from Homier Luminaires, and the Artemide globe fixtures, also purchased from Homier, create layers of light while reinforcing the kitchen’s contemporary character.

With its natural materials, clean lines and carefully considered storage solutions, the 12th Avenue project shows how a kitchen can be modernized while preserving the soul of a Montreal home. Every element works together naturally to create a space that is functional, bright and warm, while allowing the character of the Rosemont home to remain at the heart of the design.
